Wow. We’ve seen some medical submissions on the blog before, but never….this. I mean, this is pretty bizarre. First, because Mackenzie posted this picture without hesitation (in the aptly titled “random stuff” album), but also because according to Wikipedia, ectopic pregnancies are potentially quite dangerous. I mean, I get it, Mackenzie is impressed by her anomalous pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies only occur in one percent of pregnancies, and only two percent of ectopic pregnancies occur in the cervix. Those are slim odds! But that doesn’t mean it’s ever a good idea to post a picture of your bloody cervix on Facebook.
Call me an unsupportive prude, but I’ve no desire to bear witness to any part of a friend’s body defined as “the lower, narrow portion of the uterus where it joins with the top end of the vagina.” I just don’t need to see that as I’m casually scrolling through my Facebook feed. Do I find it repulsive from a biological perspective? Of course not. But from every other perspective, Mackenzie’s seemingly upbeat photo update is wack.
