Wow, this is the exact opposite reaction my parents had to my education. I mean, nobody was pushing me out the door; Flintstones Vitamins were chewed and bagged lunches were made, but after that it was, “Sayonara until 3:30PM, little lady!”
The thing I find most frustrating is that these women consider school time totally inconsequential to their kids’ lives. I’m not saying I’m anti-homeschooling — I’m not. But I would hope that those who homeschool are doing it for the right reasons. Not so they can spend more ‘quality time’ with their little munchkin when he could be socializing with kids his age, getting exercise (I hope), and feeding his brain with skills and knowledge that will inevitably shape his entire life. Jeez - first I discover that parents have a tendency to do their kids’ homework for them, and now I come to find out that some parents resent school because it forces them to “share” their kids?! I think I really *am* scared for the future of our children!
