Sanctimommy: QUIET Rest Stop Rule Edition
How is it that we’ve gotten this far in our society without enforcing a QUIET rest stop rule? Are state governments really that stupid, or are they just biased against parents with young children?! Josie was VERY POLITE when she asked a pack of ruthless teenagers and their callous mother to refrain from making any noise while she was in the bathroom with her sleeping infant so her husband could walk the dog (???), but did those disrespectful thugs listen? NOPE. Sure, she may have used her non-threatening inside voice to ask them, but the look on her face undoubtedly said, “Do not fuck with me, bitches.” And did they care? No, they cared more about themselves. They were interested in doing all of the things Josie explicitly told them NOT to do, actually, and therefore little Maylee woke up after just having fallen asleep. UNREAL.
The crazy thing is, Josie’s requests were perfectly normal requests for a new mother holding a sleeping infant in a rest stop bathroom. Do not flush the toilets, wash your hands, or use the hand dryer. Do not zip or unzip your pants, blow your nose, or open or close the bathroom door because sometimes they’re squeaky. Turn your cell phone to silent (NOT VIBRATE), and remember to offer the new mother a hand if her child is covered in poop and need a good sink wash. Oh, and offer the mother a stick of gum if you have any, because new mothers like fresh breath, too. But did they do any of those things?  No, they didn’t. And did Maylee start wailing again? YES, she did. Reason #43759 that all rest stop bathrooms should have a QUIET rule!! SERIOUSLY.
