This was sent in after a reader saw it in a comment thread for a group boycotting Better Homes & Gardens. The group formed after TOTAL OUTRAGE occurred in response to an article (no longer) featured here titled “The 9 commandments of dining with little kids.” Apparently one of those commandments was “”THOU SHALT NOT BREAST FEED AT THE TABLE,” and well, you can guess what happened next: 1100+ comments, lots of mombie rage (and I don’t use the term ‘mombie’ lightly), multiple public apologies from Better Homes & Gardens, and a Facebook boycott group — all culminating in the eventual removal of the article itself. Any veteran internet reader knows that the comments section is where the “good” stuff is found. And by good I mean totally contradictory and/or clueless statements made by mostly judge-y people who sit around getting angry at the internet all day. These women, Robin and Tara, are no exception. Robin actually takes things one step further by proudly announcing changing her child’s diaper on a restaurant table. Amazing. She and Tara probably haven’t ever met in real life, but man, do they agree with each other.
FACT: It is a good idea to breast feed at a dinner table, but it is a GREAT idea to change a baby’s diaper at a restaurant table. The tables are low, flat, sturdy and pretty much no one will ever notice! Especially the next patrons who sit down and won’t know the difference, assuming of course the baby didn’t continue to “void.” Ugh.
