I’ll be the first to say that I did not pass the “gifted” program test on the first try. Or the second. You’d think that by the third opportunity my teachers would have realized that I was not, in fact, gifted, but somehow another one recommended me for the program (called “Discovery”, very fancy!) and I passed. Such began my life of understanding that being in a gifted program only means that you have more shit to do.
That said, I can’t comment on little Anna-Grace. I haven’t spent 5 minutes with her, which is apparently the cut-off for determining that she’s gifted, so I can’t ascertain whether or not she’d meet a school’s ‘gifted and talented requirements.’ But I can confirm that Brennan sort of reminds me of a puppy in this thread. First she’s upset irate because her child didn’t meet the school system requirements, but then she’s quickly assuaged by Jackie and just kind of gives up and rolls over. I imagine her gnawing on a chew toy and completely forgetting what she was talking about, which would probably be all for the best. Ignorance is bliss, Brennan. Just go with it.
